PVOIL Organizes 25 Free Bus Trips Bringing Over 1,000 Students Home for Tet 2026
07.02.2026
On the morning of February 7, 2026 (the 20th day of the twelfth lunar month), at HCMC University of Technology and Education, 25 buses under the program “Returning Home for Tet with PVOIL” 2026 officially departed, bringing more than 1,000 students back to their hometowns for family reunions.
Attending the departure ceremony were Mr Le Trung Hung – Vice President of Vietnam Oil Corporation – JSC (PVOIL); Mr Do The Vinh – Secretary of the PVOIL Youth Union; Associate Professor, Dr Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice Rector of HCMC University of Technology and Education, along with representatives from various units, universities, and a large number of students.
The year 2026 marks the 8th consecutive year PVOIL has implemented the “Returning Home for Tet with PVOIL” program. To date, more than 8,000 disadvantaged students studying in Ho Chi Minh City have been supported to return home during the Lunar New Year. Over the years, the program has become increasingly professional and well-organized, evolving into a signature social responsibility initiative of PVOIL.
For Tet 2026, the 25 buses will transport students to central provinces along National Highway 1A, from Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh to Nghe An and Thanh Hoa. All transportation and meal costs during the journey are fully sponsored by PVOIL. Preparations were carried out thoroughly, including selecting transport providers, arranging rest stops, and implementing safety measures throughout the long journey.
The program is organized by the PVOIL Youth Union, in coordination with youth organizations of various universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Member units such as PVOIL Binh Thuan, PVOIL Phu Yen, PETEC, PVOIL Mien Trung, PVOIL Vung Ang, and PVOIL Thanh Hoa also provide support along the route, ensuring effective coordination across the system.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Le Trung Hung emphasized that the days leading up to Tet are always special for those living far from home. However, for many disadvantaged students—especially those from the central region—the journey home is not always easy.
“Returning Home for Tet with PVOIL is not merely about providing transportation; it reflects the responsibility of the enterprise toward the community and the younger generation. We hope each journey will inspire confidence and motivation for students to continue pursuing their education and future careers,” Mr. Le Trung Hung said.
According to PVOIL leadership, alongside its mission of ensuring energy supply for the economy, the Corporation remains committed to sustainable development, with social responsibility as a key pillar. This year, ticket registration and distribution were conducted via the PVOIL 4U application, enhancing transparency, convenience, and demonstrating the application of digital transformation in community-focused activities.
Associate Professor, Dr Chau Dinh Thanh – Vice Rector, expressed appreciation for PVOIL’s long-standing support. He noted that most participating students come from central provinces frequently affected by natural disasters.
“These journeys not only bring students home but also convey the care and responsibility of businesses, schools, and the community toward them,” he shared.
The joy of students on departure day clearly reflects the program’s humanitarian value.
Thuy Linh, a first-year student majoring in Fashion and Tourism, shared that although her family lives in Dong Nai, her hometown is in Thanh Hoa. After six years without returning, this is her first opportunity to reunite with her family.
“Holding a ticket home during Tet is truly emotional for me. It is not just a trip but an opportunity for reunion and to make up for missed Tet holidays. The support from PVOIL helps us feel that we are not alone while studying far from home,” she said.
Similarly, Hoai An, a second-year student at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, expressed appreciation for the program’s professional organization:
“From registration and confirmation to transportation and on-route support, everything is well-organized and reliable. The program not only helps reduce costs but also gives our families peace of mind knowing we are well supported throughout the journey. I hope this program will continue to expand so more students can return home for Tet.”
After eight years of continuous implementation, “Returning Home for Tet with PVOIL” has become one of PVOIL’s most meaningful social programs, helping disadvantaged students and reinforcing the image of an energy enterprise committed to community development.
These year-end journeys not only bring students home but also carry the spirit of compassion and PVOIL’s long-term commitment to the younger generation and sustainable social development.
