Security is the foundation, safety is the prerequisite for PVOIL’s sustainable development

On May 10, in Ho Chi Minh City, PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) organized a Conference on Security and Safety of PVOIL's oil and gas facilities. The conference aimed to evaluate security and safety measures at PVOIL's depots, ports, gas stations, and plants, as well as the coordination efforts between PVOIL and the police force in ensuring the security and safety of critical facilities.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Dinh Thuan – Member of the Party Central Committee of the Ministry of Public Security, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director General of the Department of Economic Security – attended the conference, along with heads and deputy heads of the Department’s divisions.

Representing PVOIL were Mr. Nguyen Dang Trinh - Vice Secretary of Party Committee, President & CEO of PVOIL, along with members of the Board of Directors, Executive Board, representatives of departments, offices, affiliated units, and subsidiaries.

At the conference, PVOIL presented an overview report on the company's security, safety, fire prevention, and coordination with local authorities and police forces in ensuring security and safety at its facilities and business locations.

Presentations on security and safety efforts at Vung Ro Petroleum Depot (PVOIL Phu Yen) and on security, safety, and innovative labor practices at PVOIL Vung Ang highlighted PVOIL's attention and responsibility in safeguarding its petroleum facilities.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Trinh - Vice Secretary of Party Committee, President & CEO of PVOIL emphasized that with an extensive network of depots and gas stations nationwide and continuously growing business volumes, there is increasing pressure to ensure security and safety. Following the principle “Security is the foundation, safety is the prerequisite for sustainable development,” PVOIL has always prioritized security and safety, proactively implementing various measures over its 17 years of establishment and development. Moving forward, PVOIL will continue to deepen cooperation with authorities, especially economic security forces, to proactively detect and thoroughly address risks related to security and safety. The company will also enhance the application of modern technologies in monitoring and risk management, strengthen training programs, and particularly focus on non-traditional security, cybersecurity, and information security in the context of digital transformation and global economic integration.

On this occasion, the Director General of the Department of Economic Security awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 6 individuals from PVOIL for their outstanding achievements in the “2024 All-People Movement for National Security Protection.” This recognition reflects PVOIL's recent accomplishments in security and safety efforts.

In his directive speech, Lieutenant General Nguyen Dinh Thuan – Secretary of the Party Committee and Director General of the Department of Economic Security – congratulated the awarded collectives and individuals. He affirmed that these awards also recognize the effective cooperation between PVOIL and its member units with the economic security forces. He acknowledged and highly appreciated PVOIL's efforts in ensuring security and safety, as well as its contributions to the national economy, stabilizing the petroleum market, and enhancing national energy security.

In the new context of global economic and geopolitical fluctuations, along with Vietnam’s reforms towards a new development era, increasing competition pressures, and the strategic nature of the petroleum business, Lieutenant General Nguyen Dinh Thuan directed PVOIL to further improve its security and safety efforts. This will ensure continued growth, development, and effective contributions to the national economy and energy security.

In particular, the Director General of the Department of Economic Security emphasized to PVOIL: It is necessary to specifically assess the existing issues and risks of security and safety breaches during the operation of petroleum production and business facilities, and to implement preventive solutions, especially regarding cybersecurity threats, system takeover attacks, environmental incidents, and fire and explosion hazards; regularly review and enhance protection measures to ensure absolute security and safety of the petroleum storage system, considering this a top political priority that directly impacts national security; closely coordinate with the police force and local authorities where petroleum projects and facilities are located to ensure security and safety; promote the All-People Movement for National Security Protection; particularly, continue the effective implementation of Directive No. 12-CT/TW dated January 5, 2017, by the Politburo on “Strengthening the Party's leadership over economic security in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and international economic integration” and Directive No. 24-CT/TW dated July 13, 2023, by the Politburo on “Ensuring firm national security in the context of comprehensive and deep international integration”; intensify efforts to ensure economic security, internal political security, violation prevention, maintaining internal unity and solidarity, state secret protection, cybersecurity, anti-terrorism, and sabotage prevention; accurately and promptly forecast energy transition trends to guide investment and development, thereby ensuring national energy security and meeting the country's development demands.

On behalf of the leadership and employees of PVOIL, Mr. Nguyen Dang Trinh - President & CEO of PVOIL expressed his gratitude for the support, guidance, and coordination from the police force in general and the Department of Economic Security in particular in ensuring security and safety. This cooperation has helped PVOIL consistently achieve good results in safeguarding business operations. PVOIL’s leadership affirmed their commitment to translating these comprehensive directives into concrete, effective action programs, contributing to national energy security, economic security, and enhancing PVOIL’s role and position.
