PVOIL Trans Receives ISCC EU Certification, Advancing Used Cooking Oil Collection Project
28.07.2025
On July 28 in Ho Chi Minh City, PetroVietnam Oil Transportation – One – Member Limited Company (PVOIL Trans), a subsidiary of PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL), proudly received the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU).
The ceremony was attended by Mr Le Van Nghia – Member of the Board of Directors of PVOIL; Ms Le Thi Thu Huong – Vice President of PVOIL; Mr David Martin Ruiz – President & CEO of BVC Vietnam, the certifying partner; and Mr Ethan Puar – Trading Manager of LightMax Energy.
ISCC EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is one of the world’s most highly regarded standards for verifying sustainable supply chains, especially in the bioenergy and petroleum sectors. To obtain this certification, PVOIL Trans underwent a rigorous and transparent assessment process, demonstrating operational excellence and a strong commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
Mr Mai Trung Thanh – Director of PVOIL Trans – emphasized that ISCC EU represents a key milestone in PVOIL Trans’s journey toward sustainable development. Achieving this certification affirms the company’s long-term commitment to carbon emission reduction, while opening the door to global partnerships with customers and investors. Importantly, it serves as a solid foundation for PVOIL Trans to implement its used cooking oil (UCO) collection project.
The UCO project currently being implemented by PVOIL Trans holds special significance. Instead of being discarded and causing clogged drains or water and soil pollution, used cooking oil from communities will be collected, managed, and recycled.
PVOIL Trans aims to expand its UCO collection network, optimize logistics, apply digital technology for traceability, and deepen connections with domestic and international partners to ensure an efficient, transparent, and sustainable value chain from UCO to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
On behalf of PVOIL’s leadership, Ms Le Thi Thu Hương – Vice President of PVOIL – congratulated PVOIL Trans on this important milestone. She emphasized that ISCC EU is a certification recognized by the European Union (EU) and many other major markets. This certification enables PVOIL Trans to meet strict requirements for collecting and exporting used cooking oil for biofuel production.
Furthermore, once Vietnam has a domestic SAF production facility, UCO will serve as a key input. Ms Le Thi Thu Hương noted that ISCC EU brings four major benefits to both PVOIL and PVOIL Trans: environmental protection, promoting the circular economy, expanding international market opportunities, and contributing to Vietnam's sustainable development goals.
In his remarks, Mr David Martin Ruiz – President & CEO of BVC Vietnam – shared that earning ISCC EU certification not only demonstrates compliance but also highlights PVOIL Trans’s leadership in sustainable development and responsible energy practices.
This milestone sends a strong message that PVOIL Trans is ready for a low-carbon future and the advancement of sustainable energy both in Vietnam and globally. BVC Vietnam remains committed to accompanying and supporting PVOIL Trans on its journey to sustainability and innovation.
